Licheng Li

Well-known expert in power grid engineering and DC transmission. He also serves as the Director of the Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering, the Chairman of the Special Committee of DC Transmission and Power Electronics, the Standing Director of the Guangdong Society of Electrical Engineering, the Chairman of the Special Committee of DC Transmission, and the Chairman of the Expert Committee of China Southern Power Grid Corporation. Besides, he is also the Adjunct Professor and PHD Supervisor of Tsinghua University, Chongqing University, etc.

Licheng Li has been engaged in research on power grid construction for a long time, and has made achievements and contributions in the field of power grid engineering, DC transmission and AC/DC parallel power grid operation technology. He participated in and organized the construction of China’s first 330kV AC transmission project, the first 500kV AC transmission project, and the first ±500kV DC transmission project, together with  the key project tackling and engineering construction of China’s first ±800 kV DC transmission projects as well as the world's first. As the technical and engineering principal of multiple ultra-high voltage AC and DC transmission projects, he presided over key technology research and organized project construction. He has compiled more than 10 major engineering technical reports, published more than 40 academic papers, and co-published a monograph. He won a first prize, a second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, seven ministerial science and technology progress awards, and eight authorized patents. Furthermore, he made understanding contributions to promoting the development of China’s power grid technology, especially the DC transmission technology and AC/DC parallel power grid operation technology to enter the international advanced ranks.
